Special Events 2009 The Metro Parks Big Band Dances have become a summer tradition in Nashville that attracts large crowds of all types and levels of dancers, plus those who just come to enjoy the music. This year's concerts will include free dance lessons by Dance World instructors, http://www.danceworldtn.com, from 7:00 to 7:30 pm and from 8:30 to 8:50 pm. Open dancing is from 7:30 to 10:00 pm. and, as before, are held at the Centennial Park Event Shelter (behind the Parthenon, near the sunken garden) in Centennial Park, located at 2500 West End Ave. in downtown Nashville. So bring your lawn chair and picnic basket for a real summertime treat, or Centennial Café will be selling food & beverages. Sidewalk chalk will be provided in a special corner for children to keep them safe. is holding the second of a series of 3-Day Beginner Argentine Tango
Workshops. Three
workshops will take place on Saturday mornings, from 11:00 am to 12:00
pm. They will be held at the Global Education Center, located at

Ave. N. The leson will be from 8:00 to 8:30 pm, with the Milonga from 8:30 to 10:00 pm. Come out and get a taste of the Argentine Tango, learn the basic moves and twists. Stay on to dance and socialize with old and new friends, as you show off your newly learned Argentine Tango dance skills, while enjoying a great atmosphere and a great selection of Tango music. Bring your packed dinner and a blanket, and enjoy a lovely time with friends, family and new friends! Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that slide easily (no rubber soles) with a closed heel (strap or full heel). Music Appreciation Society is hosting a Summer Swing Dance at a new summer place with hot
dancing & cool air conditioning! The dance will be held at
the Second Presbyterian Church, located at 3511 Belmont Blvd in
Nashville. There will be no lesson, just a chance to dance from
8:30pm to 11:00pm to your favorite DJ. If they have a good crowd,
they will dance here in July & Aug. Cost is only
$5.00. No partner or experience needed, dances
are
always smoke & alcohol free. Refreshments are available, all
ages are welcome, and dress is
casual.
